Our Team

Ben Wheeler MSc, RPBio (he/him)

Ben has been involved in many of Canada's largest marine projects on all three coastlines, spanning ports & terminals, government, oil & gas, mining, and renewables sectors. He is a trusted senior advisor, working with clients to develop regulatory and engagement strategies informed both by science and social context as well as championing novel approaches to environmental assessment that de-risk approvals. Living in Nunavut for 4 years sparked a keen interest for integrating Traditional Knowledge and science for environmental decision-making. Ben sat on the Eastern Arctic Bowhead Whale Recovery Team and was a founding member of the Port of Vancouver's award-winning ECHO program (focused on the endangered Southern Resident Killer Whale). Ben has been a senior leader at multiple environmental consulting firms and has a passion for coaching and mentoring staff. In his downtime, Ben enjoys making things with his hands, mountain biking, spending time at his cabin, and fixing up cars with his son.
